モノの溢れる社会で、モノと向き合うことが出来るショップ

有限会社荒木商会は、ゴミのない社会の実現を目指し、リサイクル事業を20年間以上展
開しており、使われなくなったモノを、もう一度見つめ直し、その価値を再発見していく
モノが“濾過”されていくプロセスを、消費者が体験する場所として、リサイクルショップ
を計画をしました。1階には、まだ手を加えていないモノが並び、倉庫やフリマのような
感覚で宝探しを楽しめる場所に、そして階段を上がり2階へ進むと、きれいに洗浄された
モノが並ぶスペースが広がり、倉庫内を通して、モノと様々な角度から向き合える設計に
しました。モノが溢れている社会において古道具の価値は見直されつつあり、そのような
時代の中で新しいリサイクルショップのあり方を模索し、企画しました。
Araki Shokai Ltd. has been operating a recycling business for over 20 years with the aim of realizing a waste-free society. We planned this recycling shop to serve as a place where consumers can experience the process of items being “filtered”—a journey of re-examining discarded goods and rediscovering their value. The first floor displays items in their original, untouched state, creating an atmosphere akin to a warehouse or flea market where visitors can enjoy a treasure-hunting experience. Ascending to the second floor reveals a space filled with thoroughly cleaned items; the design allows visitors to engage with the goods from various perspectives as they move through the warehouse-like setting. In a society overflowing with material goods, the value of vintage and second-hand items is being re-evaluated; against this backdrop, we conceived this project to explore what a new kind of recycling shop could be.
